We have a new product! My husband has been making bone needles for largesse purposes and he has offered me a few for sale here.
These are entirely hand-carved with period tools, perfect for your period kit.
Each one is a tiny bit different as you can see from the picture…and no, I’m not sure which ones I’m actually getting, yet. I’ll get another pic for the sale page.
Each comes with a needlecase; turned, colored wood for the smaller needles and bamboo for the larger and curved ones.
The current needles are made of pork or lamb bone that were prepared by us.
The bamboo needlecases start from fresh bamboo and purchased corks. They are finished variously and will be marked as to what was used. The wooden needlecases start with purchased turned cases. We dye them with alcohol-based dyes, so the color doesn’t rub off, and finish with matte varnish. We sell those separately, as well, in the shop. I’ll be putting those up on the sale page soon.
