It’s been awhile since I’ve had time to work on projects! The shop goes crazy over the summer and our local group is trying to put together an event for next February, so project time has been hard to come by. Despite it I’ve managed a few things (other than pouches for largesse, which are just a constant thing and I do in “brain-free time”.)
One was this non-embroidered headwear that has progressed through the two trial stages and is going to get an embroidered version sometime this winter. There’s a full set of pictures and links to instructions here: http://wp.me/p6tYq4-oM
Elisabeth de Besancon has a beautiful set of pictures of an embroidered Brigitta Cap on Facebook on her page “Elisa’s Endeavors”. That’s what I’d like to try next and that will be stage three.
I’ve been working on covering boxes, too. These are going to be sewing kits (for largesse) that have a fabric top (lightly padded) a matching pincushion and needlebook and some supplies. I’ll get a gallery or link up here once we actually have a whole set. I’m hoping to do some kind of pamphlet or kit on these, but so far the glitch is finding boxes inexpensive enough in interesting shapes.
Loren is working on more of the bamboo needlecases. He got started getting the sanding done today. I’m thinking that in a few more weeks, there will be some for sale!
We needed more filling for pincushions and I got a whole bottle of that accomplished back in August. I make filling from sawdust, ground dried cedar fronds and beach sand.
I’m also working on another blackworked biscornu for that pamphlet that will eventually get finished. So far I have most of the pamphlet, a few examples and a lot of patterns. You can still see the drying Fray-Chek on the main motif! I actually started stitching this later in the day from this picture, but none of those photos turned out. I’ll have more pix, soon! (Stitched on cotton even-weave, with cotton floss and a size 28 tapestry needle.)
Happy Stitching!
